 I think it is important to see one's personal plans like a business plan ... for obvious reasons ...

less obviously ...

unlike an technical presentation, one should present a business plan such that it could be nurtured by the audience .... one should NEVER play the defensive game.  There will always holes in one's plan.  But instead of being defensive about it, one should take a strong (but not absolute stand) on a position so that the audience will contribute to your ideas to help it grow. 

it is absolutely OK to loose face ...  ha ha ... my sense is that if you want to come up with the killer buz plan, you'll need some thick skin ... oh well

similarly, it is important for others to criticize your personal aspirations ... its nothing personal ... you need others to help you refine your ideas ... after a gzillion iterations, you might just get the killer bus plan
